Woodrow W. (“Woody”) Clark II,
MA3, Ph.D.
Joins Altergy Board of Advisors
GOLD RIVER, California – October 3,
2005 – Altergy Systems President and
CEO Eric Mettler today welcomed esteemed energy
economist Woodrow W. (“Woody”)
Clark II, MA3, Ph.D. to the Company’s
Board of Advisors. The co-founder of the California
Stationary Fuel Cell Collaborative and leader
of the “Hydrogen Highway” Initiative
is expected to contribute to Altergy’s
alternative energy leadership.
Dr. Clark is a qualitative economist whose
book, Agile Energy Systems: Global Lessons
from the California Energy Crisis (co-author,
Prof. Ted Bradshaw, University of California
at Davis), was published by Elsevier Press,
UK in October, 2004. His current book, Qualitative
Economics: Toward a Science of Economics
(with Prof. Michael Fast, Aalborg University,
Denmark), is due out in 2006. A Fulbright
Scholar, Clark earned master’s degrees
at the University of Illinois-Urbana, Roosevelt
University and Loyola University-Chicago,
and his Ph.D. at the University of California
at Berkeley. He is a member of the National
Academy of Sciences panel, “Hybrid
Mass Transit Systems.” Clark served
as Senior Policy Advisor for Energy Reliability
to California Governor Gray Davis (2000-2003)
with a focus on renewable generation, advanced
technologies and finance.
Clark co-founded the California Stationary
Fuel Cell Collaborative; helped to start the
State of California’s efforts on “green” public
buildings and sustainable historic buildings,
and started the “Hydrogen Highway” Initiative
(2003) for the State. His white paper on “California's
Next Economy” (2003) stands as a benchmark
for the State's economic growth. Clark was
Manager of Strategic Planning for Energy at
the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
during the 1990s. He has an international reputation
as a leader, author and implementer in renewable
energy, emerging technologies and economic
development.
Clark founded Clark Communications in San
Francisco (1980) and is now Managing Director
in Los Angeles, California, with clients in
Asia, Europe and the U.S. Dr. Clark’s
additional engagements include: Los Angeles
Community College District, as Director of
Renewable Energy buildings on its nine campuses,
with a $2.3 billion bond measure; Senior Fellow,
Environmental Finance at the Milken Institute
in Santa Monica, California; Adjunct Professor,
Graduate School of Business, Pepperdine University;
Chair of the Science and Technology Team for
Green Hydrogen (with Jeremy Rifkin); and Co-Founder,
Chair of Advisory Board, Pianeta srl, a renewable
energy company in Settimo, Italy, India and
the People's Republic of China.
