AnnouncementsAltergy Appointed to Board of California Stationary Fuel Cell CollaborativeSACRAMENTO, California – September 16, 2005 – Altergy Systems President and CEO Eric Mettler announced today that Altergy has been appointed to a seat on the 10-member Industry Advisory Panel of the California Stationary Fuel Cell Collaborative (CaSFCC). Altergy Vice President-Government Relations James “Mickey” Oros will represent the Company for its one-year, renewable term. The Collaborative is a joint initiative of federal, state and non-governmental organizations interested in the acceleration of stationary fuel cell commercialization in the State of California and beyond. Members represent a group of key organizations interested in combining efforts and resources towards commercialization of stationary fuel cells in California. These organizations formed a Core Group, which is developing a program of activities towards its mission. The Collaborative is co-chaired by Dr. Alan C. Lloyd, Secretary of the Cal/EPA and Dr. Scott Samuelsen, Director of the National Fuel Cell Research Center at the University of California at Irvine. The mission of the Collaborative is to promote stationary fuel cell commercialization as a means of: Reducing or eliminating air pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions; Increasing energy efficiency; Promoting energy reliability and security; Promoting energy diversity; Promoting energy independence; Realizing a sustainable energy future. To support its mission, the Collaborative engages in several specific activities, including: Developing recommendations for policies/programs that support technologies and solutions that meet the Collaborative's goals of cost-effective, clean, reliable, and diverse sources of energy; Working with industry, government, environmental organizations, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for siting fuel cells that yield mutually beneficially results; Encouraging the improved performance and reduction of costs of fuel cell products; Identifying financing and incentive opportunities for stationary fuel cell installations; Encouraging outreach and education to help make fuel cells an integral part of distributed generation; Implementing an inter-organizational policy to utilize fuel cells in government facilities, (e.g., sustainable buildings); Supporting (including funding) demonstration projects for evaluation of technical and environmental benefits; and Collecting, evaluating and distributing data on the commercialization of fuel cells for power generation and fuel storage in California.
