Senior Operations Specialist

General Requirements

The Senior Operations Specialist (SOS) assists the Senior Management Team (SMT) in planning, statusing, analyzing, and managing critical company operations while functioning as a project manager for strategic collaborations, business/operations analysts, and critical milestone administrator. 

Utilizes experience or familiarity with product and process engineering, manufacturing process,  integrated product quality, product testing, materials management, planning and scheduling, financial analysis and operations and employs working knowledge of world class manufacturing processes and techniques, operations excellence practices, continuous product and process improvement, variability reduction techniques, design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA), demand flow manufacturing and integrated operating systems in executing assigned tasks.

Provides “Big picture” orientation, facilitating development and integration of all elements of the business cycle into the team process and resulting products, along with a positive, can-do, solution oriented, attitude and the ability to think “outside-the-box,” remove roadblocks and create opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strategic Collaborations Project Administrator
    • Serves as the primary company interface to one or more strategic or collaboration partners, managing execution of the project agreement and coordinates timely completion. Escalates/informs SMT of deviations from plans or objectives.
  • Business/Operations Analyst
    • Assists SMT in developing/drafting strategic direction, scope, and objectives for annual operating plan, strategic plans and business plans.
    • Coordinates preparation of business plans, annual operating plans and long-term strategic plans with SMT and functional organizations.
    • Monitors business plans, annual operating plans and or strategic plans milestones and coordinates timely completion. Escalates/informs SMT of deviations from plans.
    • Reviews departmental financial/schedule performance and informs/advises SMT on actual vs. planned status and accomplishments.
    • Coordinates/updates investor related documentation, including, but not limited to business plans, presentation materials, and financial analysis
    • May participate in preparation/analysis of materials for meetings of the Board of Directors, or committees of the Board, the Advisory Board and/or shareholders.
    • Performs preview and evaluation of company bid and proposal efforts, and informs/advises SMT of salient deal points and impacts to schedule, capacity, or finances.
    • Conducts independent internal audits as assigned by SMT.
    • Assists in development of appropriate metrics and implementation of procedures for reporting goals and achievements of all operational departments.
    • Leads teams through DFMA and cost reduction /continuous improvement activities.
  • Critical Milestone Administrator
    • Develops a working knowledge of the company’s products and processes to ensure optimal, big picture view of critical milestones.
    • Develops, monitors and reports on achievement of company critical milestone schedules.
    • Monitors Sales & Operations Plans (S&OP) and advises SMT on status and execution issues.
    • Tracks and reports the status of the design and development efforts to SMT.
    • Analyzes the demand and supply balance to determine out- of- balance conditions, identifies alternatives, and recommends actions to SMT.
    • Challenges PPE and manufacturing strategies for all product lines to be sure that the best and most customer-oriented strategy is being used.
    • Verifies that master schedule satisfies customer demand, while providing for best capacity/resource utilization (PPE and manufacturing) and optimum inventory levels.
    • Ensures that a common master schedule is used to drive all company priorities in manufacturing, marketing, sales, engineering, and finance.
    • Assists demand management in setting priorities when demand outstrips the company’s supply of products or the resources necessary to build the requested product.
    • Informs SMT when demand cannot be met and recommend alternatives on how the requested demand could be satisfied.

Qualifications

  • 12 years related engineering, manufacturing, and/or business experience.
  • B.S. Engineering, MBA, and or CIRM a plus.
  • Experience in project engineering, project/program management, manufacturing, operations, or materials management, beneficial.
